Louisiana Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA)

The Louisiana chapter of the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) was formed in 1986 by a group of government risk managers and others interested in risk management. Its role is to:

  • increase the proficiency of risk and insurance management in governmental agencies at the state and local level.
  • develop a broader understanding of risk/insurance management among public officials and governmental managers and enhance the knowledge and skills of individuals who carry out the risk management function in public agencies.
  • be an educational and research resource for the benefit of governments and political subdivisions thereof including governmental agencies, school districts, and special districts throughout Louisiana.

Louisiana PRIMA serves the needs of public entity risk managers and industry professionals throughout the state. Louisiana PRIMA, in conjunction with national PRIMA, works to provide valuable industry education and information services for its members, and promotes effective risk management in the public interest as an essential component of public administration.

Our members coordinate risk management, purchase insurance, manage human resources, administrate safety and envirronmental programs, manage labor issues, handle parks and recreation programs and much more. They adhere to a strict code of ethics, a standard of professional conduct as it applies to member work-related activities.
